REFLEXOLOGY OFFERS WELLNESS-2010

Two verses of different epoch and proclivity converse consistently with the mission-vision of the Reflexology Seminar recently conducted by AG&P Company of Manila Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with TESDA and CESCO portend ‘healing’ as a path to life, means of livelihood and way of living through ROW-2010.

Reflexology Offers Wellness-2010 is a project attended by 27 candidates from four host barangays, San Roque, Sto Niño, Manghinao Proper and San Andres, of AG&PFI and CESCO. From the pool of applicants, CESCO and AG&PFI chose the most qualified trainees to attend the 5 days certification seminar commencing on June 7 to the 11th. The criteria expectations evolve on attitude, willingness, need, verve, post training potentials and future plans.

TESDA announced the scarcity of Reflexologists in the second district of Batangas saying that the authority already established networks of professional healers in District 1, 3 and 4. The need to sponsor and train potential reflexologists in the 2nd district is a must considering that the career is a good livelihood potential for the physically, sensitively and piously disabled barangay folks. While it is true that the other three districts have fully established networks of reflexologists and have also professionalized the trade by training TRAINERS to propagate the craft, Batangas D2 remained untouched in irony because TESDA provincial office resides here. TESDA accepted AG&PFI’s invitation to a tripartite venture with CESCO in ROW-2010 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed a day before the start of classes.

The seminar was facilitated by Dr. Alvin Oriondo who came all the way from Nasugbu, District 1 of Batangas to AG&P Company of Manila Foundation, Inc Technical School where he was greeted and housed in AG&P Bolo Dormitory in Bolo, Bauan, Batangas. Dr Oriondo teaches various courses and has the authority to certify graduates supported by TESDA. He is TESDA’s lead trainer for Reflexology in the entire province and also the head trainer for Culinary, Arts, Bartending, Barrista, Ganging, Cosmetology, Massage, Care giving and the like. Having achieve distinctions in his exceptional ability to coach he was assigned to handle AG&PFI’s corporate social related projects starting with ROW-2010.

On the third training day, Mr. Renato M. Alarcon, Executive Director of AG&PFI and also chairman of the Reflexology Seminar awarded the first Scrub Suit uniform to the 27 trainees. He was assisted by CESCO Head Nurse and project coordinator, Rafael Jose Montaño and AG&P Human Resources Head, Christopher Cabildo who in succession gave the ‘challenge’ speech.

The five days training, on its conclusion, marked the first TESDA accredited, first Second district team of Reflexologists and first recognized zone therapists in the second district of Batangas. This can probably be perceived as the most significant training AG&PFI and CESCO have achieved this year, 2010, benching on the luxury of being first in developing pioneers in the therapeutic and wellness fields for District 2 of Batangas Province.

REFLEXOLOGY PRACTITIONERS EARN THEIR FIRST P3,000.00

57 employees, managers and staff, of the Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila, Inc. volunteered to become patients to the new graduates of AG&PFI-CESCO Reflexology Offers Wellness - “ROW-2010” project pursuing a traditional ‘Paakyat pasalta’ (first income) after the graduation rites held June 11, 2010.

A day after graduation, June 12, 2010. five top students were invited by Head Nurse Rafael Jose Montaño to join CESCO in Caltex Depot and former refinery in San Pascual, Batangas to knead strained muscles and focal joints of Golfers during the Caltex-Chevron Texaco Invitational Golf Challenge. Shifts were orderly assembled by Mr. Montano so he can easily introduce AG&PFI graduates to the players. Therapy was given to each golfer during lull game periods, some by hole and others, during flight rests.

Every reflexologist earned from P700.00 to P1,000.00 during the golf tournament. And, adding income from other sources like house-to-house appointments and friends referrals, reports indicated that each graduate earned P3,000.00 on the average for the first three (3) days rendered services after graduation.

Mr. Renato M. Alarcon, AG&PFI executive Director, upon hearing of the success through results, immediately requested for a reunion meeting which was held June 16, 2010. The graduates were introduced as DOCTORS of REFLEXOLOGY during the meeting and were lauded for the achievements they attained. The surprising success of the Reflexology seminar earned praises from the communities in Bauan, Batangas and TESDA, so much so, that philanthropists started coming in to contribute small amounts for the preparation of the next batches of ROW training.
Reflexology (zone therapy) is a pseudoscience and an alternative medicine, complementary, or integrated medicine method of treatment involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hand with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. A 2009 systematic review of randomized controlled trials concluded that the latest available evidence does not show convincingly that reflexology is an effective treatment for any medical condition.
The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as:
"A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body."

Bauan Technical Highschool joins AG&P Foundation, Inc.

The AG&P Company of Manila Foundation, Inc. (AGPFI), jointly with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), Bauan Municipal Agriculture office (MAO), Bauan Municipal Government and the Bauan Technical High School (BTHS) conducted a tree planting program with the theme “Nurture the Nature, Sponsor a Tree” with BTHS teachers, students, guests and staff on July 31st, a day after the opening of its annual intramurals and sports festivities

The Foundation sponsored 100 trees to be planted inside the 4.2 hectares school campus.

On a Department of Education Order number 33 series of 2008, that states’ “Responding to the threat of climate change and global warming through massive, intensive and sustained tree planting, tree growing and tree program” Bauan Technical High School was obliged to deliver a sustainable plan that would address this concern by building alliances with organizations and institutions capable to assist.

Promoted to start, Mr. Walter G. Faustino, Training Department Manager with AGPFI Coordinator Ben S. Aclan organized their tree planting team of 12 to formulate a defined plan for the upcoming program and submitted the work plan to Mr. Renato M. Alarcon, AGPFI Executive Director, for approval.

The Chronicle:
Prior to the agenda Donna P. Dalangin, tree planting team chief OIC for BTHS, set up a registration table to accommodate 100 sponsors for Mahogany trees. 90% were teachers and 10% were staff, maintenance crew and guests. Photo ops came after each one registered as they wave their respective ‘sponsor’s tags’ with ribbons and ‘tying cords’ to pose. The event was clustered orderly immediately commencing the formal procedure.

At least 1000 spectators assembled at the covered grandstand of the host school to witness the ceremonial tree planting program.

The ceremony:
Called together inside the covered grandstand seated 1000, student audiences at the core, teachers on the left lyceum and school staff on the right side of the hall. School Administrator Danny Dolor introduced the emcees, Mr. Jun Dimalibot (BTHS Skills training Instructor) and Mr. Zaldy I. Quizon (AG&PFI Registrar), to the crowd commencing the 45 minutes gathering.

“The need to resolve issues in global warming and nature’s threat to extinct mankind needs to be addressed, now or shall we wait?”, was Principal Erlinda Ilagan’s opening speech as she congratulated AG&P Foundation Inc in its efforts to promote tree planting in Bauan. The concerted school efforts were rewarded when the school head introduced their special guests to the stand to deliver speeches of inspiration, harmony and generosity.

AG&P guests were, Roberto S. Paglinawan, Assistant Vice-President, Richard A. Reyes, Resources Management Head, Leopoldo Salcedo, Barangay Captain of San Roque, Bauan, Ben S. Aclan, AG&P Foundation Inc Coordinator, the Team under the Training Department led by Donna Marie P. Dalangin.

“Trees are grown and not just planted. As we go about caring for trees we learn how to appreciate the goodness of God our creator. The values that we develop while we nurture the nature sponsoring a tree are far beyond what people can teach us for these are actions voluntarily shared usually it comes from beneath and even deeper.” AVP RS Paglinawan emphasized during his inspirational talk. And before the address ended Paglinawan challenged every able body to plant a tree and grow it as if it was a part of self thus being responsible.

Tree Planting:
Richard A. Reyes planted the first tree to inaugurate the pinnacle of the program. Mahogany trees were earlier lined up over dug holes around the campus with bamboo pegs to support each tree. Mr. Reyes, rested the first tree for AG&P and also planted trees under the names of AG&P hierarchies, Agelito D. Bermudo, President, Marcial P. Morales Jr, Vice President for Finance and Administration, Aquilino G. De Vera, Vice-President for Operations followed by school officials, AG&P Officers, Barangay San Roque Captain, Teachers and the students instantaneously.

The ceremony ended as each participant tied their green ribbons around their child trees. Name tags were also placed atop each tree guard and everyone had their share of rationed water to sprinkle.
